Medi-Share's PHCS Network of Doctors and Specialists

The Medi-Share network of doctors and specialists (known as a PPO) is called PHCS, which stands for Private Healthcare Systems. It includes over 700,000 healthcare professionals. I can tell you from experience that if there is a particular doctor or healthcare facility that you normally use, the odds are very good that it is part of the PHCS network.

When you join Medi-Share, you will have instant access to their online member's center. If you click on Find A Provider, you are brought to this page:

Notice that besides finding a doctor, you also have options for dental and vision, as well as the 24/7 online doctor's calls done over phone or webcam.

The first option is to find a doctor. You're able to search for specific doctors, or any who meet the criteria you set who are also near you. You can specify that the doctor must have a certain specialty like occupational therapy or pediatrics, be male or female, or speak a certain language.  You can also specify how close the doctor must be, such as 1 mile or 5 miles.

From there, you get a comprehensive list of all doctors meeting your criteria. For example, searching for pediatricians within 1 mile, I get 9 results starting with:

So this is how you can use Medi-Share to find the right doctor for you and your family.

hello Maya, I have been on medi-share for 8 months, and I have had no luck in finding a doctor or a dentist, in fact I have called every dentist in my area and they all told me that don't and never did, take media-share, and so far I have tried 3 different doctor offices that show up on the medi-share provider list and to day I even tried a nurse practitioner and do not take medi-share, is something you could help me with on this? I live in a the 2nd biggest city in Colorado on the western side so I dont thing that is the reason, as of right now I feel like doesnt work. please get back to me on this matter. thank you for your help.

You need to communicate you have a Private Healthcare System membership when talking with providers. They are likely getting stuck on searching for "Insurance". I live in Denver.

I join Medi-Share in 2018. Up to the end of 2023 my wife and I have not attempted to use them except for emergent care which worked pretty well. I had not seen a primary care physician for about 10 years when I had my own emergency. The ER doctor recommended I follow up with a primary care physician. This is where my problems with Medishare began. I used there Healthcare Blue Book to find an in-network provider and hospital. I checked the providers’ website to see if they were in the FirstHealth Network (Medishare’s). They were. I checked FirstHealth’s webpage to see if the providers we listed by them. They were. All checked I made an appointment and discovered after receiving care - they weren’t.

Medishare will allow the submission of bill from out of network care but time does not permit me to list all of the unbelievable complications a member has in getting the out of network care bill to Medishare billing. Let’s just say it strains your faith.

Once/if a bill is processed the can (of course) deny to “share” the bill with you. This is understood. However, if, as in my case, you have a procedure that is potentially covered in their Guidelines you but not shared you can appeal the non-share decision. Unfortunately the Medishare Guidelines do not explain how to submit the appeal or the length of time they need to review, or that you only have access to their CSA’s and cannot speak to a supervisor.

So, if your going to use Medishare only do so if the provider is absolutely known to be in network. Do NOT trust their website. Do NOT trust FirstHealth’s Website. Do NOT trust the providers website. And if you do need them to accommodate your out of net work situation that occurred because of their reference to their database of in network providers - Forget it! Media-Share has their rules! Good luck. But, they will alway offer to pray with you after you have have been crushed by their bureaucracy.

I've been doing very in depth research on medi share and CHM. Says CHM you can use any dr but I will ask my dr first..As for Medi share will also ask my dr. but will ask for a list "supposedly" approved with their system! Thank you for the heads up.
